Private energy company DTEK is implementing Ukraine’s first large-scale project to create a portfolio of energy storage systems and has already signed a contract with Fluence to install them.
The six facilities will be in different regions of Ukraine, with capacities ranging from 20 MW to 50 MW, totaling 200 MW. Together, they will store up to 400 MWh of electricity – enough to power 600,000 households for two hours (equivalent to approximately half of the households in Kyiv).
With a total investment of €140M, the project is an essential step towards strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence, stabilizing energy supply, and transitioning to renewable energy sources. The project is scheduled to be completed by October 2025.
Fluence is a global leader in the energy storage market, with over 35 GWh of energy storage solutions currently under construction, including in Lithuania and Germany.
