ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih significantly increased its production indicators in 2024 but could not reach a break-even level. The main problems were the war, electricity shortage, high energy prices, expensive logistics, and the price situation in the metal product markets. In the middle of the year, AMKR temporarily reached 50% of its metallurgical production capacity. The mining department worked at about 70-75% of pre-war production. The enterprise produced:
- pig iron – 2.2 million tons (+42.7% by 2023)
- steel – 1.7 million tons (+69.9%)
- rolled products – 1.5 million tons (+72.1%)
- coke (6% moisture) – 1.3 million tons (+48.5)
- concentrate – 7.8 million tons (+71.7%)
- ore production – 19.2 million tons (+68.3%)
Thanks to the sea corridor, exports were the main factor in production growth. The domestic market enjoyed good dynamics only in the first half of the year, when orders were placed for several infrastructure projects. Before the war, 80% of the plant’s products were exported.
