a New York Times story warned last night that hydrogen “may, in fact, be worse for the climate than previously thought.” Drawing on a study in the Energy Science & Engineering journal by Cornell and Stanford researchers, the Times said “they found that the greenhouse gas footprint of blue hydrogen was more than 20 percent greater than burning natural gas or coal for heat…there is an emerging consensus that a wider hydrogen economy that relies on natural gas could be damaging to the climate.”
