The amount of direct damage caused to Ukraine’s infrastructure during the war reached $154.9B as of January. According to KSE analysis, the amount also considers the damage caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP. The increase in the total damages is associated with an increase in damaged and destroyed infrastructure, housing, industry, energy, education, and healthcare facilities.
Housing accounts for the highest losses. As of January 2024, more than 250,000 residential buildings were damaged or destroyed. Direct losses from the destruction of these objects are estimated at $58.9B. Compared to the end of the previous year, the amount increased by $4.8B.
Losses in the industrial sector and for various enterprises reached $13.1B.
Due to hostilities, the number of direct losses from destroyed infrastructure continues to grow—the energy industry – up to $9B, and the agro-industrial complex – up to $8.7B.
