Croatia’s Adriatic ports may provide an alternative route for transporting grain from Ukraine, whose Black Sea ports remain blocked, stated Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia Andreja Metelko Zgombych. She pointed out that Croatian ports on the Adriatic are available and can be an efficient and short route to North Africa. Ten days ago, the European Commission presented an action plan to create “solidarity strips” to export grain and other agricultural products by land from Ukraine, whose ports were blocked after the Russian invasion. Before the Russian attack, 90% of Ukrainian grain and oilseeds exports passed through Black Sea ports.
