The country demands additional protection for its agricultural producers and reminds the EC about the €16.75M provided in the EC’s crisis reserve. The state’s position was voiced by the Minister of Agriculture of Bulgaria, Yavor Genov, at a working group meeting on the export of grain from Ukraine.

“We remain in solidarity with Ukraine, but we observe serious problems.” As a result, the minister noted that Bulgaria asked the European Commission to take anti-crisis measures and take a more balanced approach to solidarity corridors.

Furthermore, he claims that the Bulgarian agricultural sector is currently “suffering from market anomalies” due to the war in Ukraine. Therefore, Bulgaria asked the EU to provide additional measures and guarantees to speed up grain export to third countries, Genov said.
