Britain supports Ukraine’s strikes with long-range missiles but is afraid of creating tension with the US.

Britain supports the idea of Ukraine using Storm Shadow missiles to strike targets in the Russian Federation but will not publicly call for this step because of the risk of a conflict with the US. Although the Storm Shadow is developed based on Anglo-French cooperation and is produced by a European enterprise, MBDA, with an Italian partner, since the US supplies some of the missile’s components, it is believed that the White House must also consent to their use inside Russia.

Washington refuses to do so, fearing escalation. At the same time, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs, Li Hui, said that South Africa, Indonesia, Brazil, and China are concerned about the constant softening of Ukraine’s restrictions on strikes in the Russian Federation with Western weapons.

The US Department of Defense notes that the US does not intend to create a conflict with Moscow but supports Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against aggression. Therefore, the Pentagon’s policy regarding using American weapons has not changed.
