Biden will gather the European Quartet in Germany to help Ukraine; Scholz will ask for increased military support at the EU summit.

US President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Germany to meet with European leaders on October 18 and discuss support for Ukraine, including military aid. According to CNN, Biden will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The leaders of the four countries had planned to meet with President Zelenskyy at the Ramstein air base in Germany, but the meeting was canceled.

It should be noted that the US, Germany, the UK, and France supply critical arms to Ukraine, having provided approximately $90B in direct military support since February 2022.

Scholz will ask his bloc partners to increase military assistance to Ukraine during the EU summit on October 17.

At the same time, Bild writes that Zelenskyy, during a European tour last week, implied that he might consider a ceasefire under conditions that the US provides Ukraine security guarantees similar to those offered to Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines.
