August’s demand for new cars in Ukraine fell by 20%.

In August, Ukrainians bought 2,900 new vehicles, 66% less than in August last year and 20% less than in July, reported Ukravtoprom. Toyota cars were in the greatest demand with 750 new registries. Compared to August 2021, however, the sale of new Toyotas decreased by 40% last month. Compared to July 2022, demand increased by 26%. Renault, with a decrease in sales by more than 600% over the year, is in second place with 206 cars purchased in August. Renault’s sales dropped by 21% from its July result. For the first time, the BMW brand entered the top three sellers of new cars in Ukraine, with 197 vehicles sold. At the same time, compared to August 2021, new BMW registrations decreased by 9%, but compared to July, BMW sales improved by 6%. In the first eight months of 2022, Ukrainians purchased and registered 24,400 new cars, 63% less than in the same period last year.
