British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will call on US President Joe Biden to allocate a $20B loan to Ukraine before Donald Trump takes office as the next US president. The British prime minister will also insist that the US finally allow Ukraine to fire long-range Storm Shadow missiles deep into the Russian Federation.

The G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro may be of decisive importance, as the allies will discuss accelerating support for Ukraine. London is currently focused on ensuring that the G7 countries – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain, and the US – fulfill their promises to provide $50B in new loans to Ukraine, which will be repaid with profits from frozen Russian assets.

Meanwhile, Starmer visited Paris, where together with the French president, they confirmed their commitment to “unwavering” support for Ukraine. Starmer and Macron discussed how best to strengthen Ukraine’s position before winter and the inauguration of Donald Trump, who might abruptly stop aid to Kyiv.
