An artillery agreement with Norway will help Ukraine reduce its dependence on Western supplies of weapons and ammunition.

Denmark will be the first NATO country to invest in the production of Ukrainian weapons; with the Netherlands, Ukraine will finance domestic defense companies.

An artillery agreement with Norway will help Ukraine reduce its dependence on Western supplies of weapons and ammunition.

The Norwegian government has signed an agreement to transfer artillery production to Ukraine. If Ukraine produces Western-style howitzers and projectiles domestically, it will free itself from complete dependence on its allies for one of the most important means of self-defense. In this way, Ukraine will become more self-sufficient in its defensive war. The artillery agreement is part of the solution to one of Ukraine’s biggest problems as the Russian Federation’s war against the country continues into its third year.

Another agreement – local production of modern self-propelled howitzers – was concluded last year. In particular, the high-precision equipment the Norwegian company Nammo will provide is designed to produce 155 mm projectiles – standard NATO caliber.

According to the Telegraph, transitioning from Soviet caliber artillery to Western standards has many advantages because the 155 mm projectile delivers an ideal balance between firing range – potentially tens of kilometers – and explosive power.
