US President Joe Biden assured Kyiv that the US will continue to assist Ukraine and called on Republicans in Congress to keep their word regarding aid as Ukraine continues to struggle against Russian aggression. He noted that among Republicans and Democrats, both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, the overwhelming majority of legislators support Ukraine.
The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, confirmed that military support to Ukraine will continue. This became known during a telephone conversation between the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, and his American colleague.
In this context, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, stressed that the Russian Federation is mistaken in its intentions to “wait” for military aid to Ukraine to cease. He added that Ukraine not only receives weapons from its Western partners but also is increasing its production and joint production of weapons with partners in NATO countries and beyond.
At the same time, the AP states that the latest events in Congress signal a weakening in the unwavering support that the US has so far shown to Ukraine.
