After Russia attacked a ship in the Black Sea, world prices for wheat rose sharply, but Ukraine continues to export.

Wheat futures increased by 2.2% after Ukraine announced that a Russian missile hit a grain tanker in the Black Sea. Wheat futures rose to $5.9175 per bushel, the highest price since July 2024.

68.6 million tons of cargo have been transported during the Ukrainian Maritime Corridor’s 13 months of operation, including 46 million tons of grain. More than 2,500 ships have exported products to 46 countries through use of the corridor.

Minister of Infrastructure Oleksiy Kuleba noted that despite the Russian missile attack on a civilian ship transporting grain from Ukraine to Egypt, Ukraine will continue to ensure the efficient operation of the Black Sea corridor so that countries in Africa and the Middle East receive necessary goods.

During the full-scale invasion, Russia has carried out more than 50 attacks on Ukraine’s ports, damaging more than 280 port infrastructure objects and destroying more than 100,000 tons of agricultural products.
