According to the head of the Ukrainian Parliament Committee on Energy, Andrii Gerus, construction is taking place in various regions of Ukraine: in the Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. According to Gerus, constructing at least 100 such power generation facilities will significantly reduce Ukraine’s vulnerability to attacks by an aggressor country on the energy system. The payback from such mini-power plants may take up to 10 years, so now all projects are being built with international aid funds or by enterprises based on future consumption. The price of this generation varies in the range of €400-€800 thousand per MW. At gas prices of UAH 20,000 per 1,000 cubic meters, the cost of electricity at small power plants is UAH 5,000 per MWh. If the price of gas is higher, the electricity cost will increase accordingly.
