Romania’s largest private rail freight operator, the Grampet Group, has built a rail transshipment terminal in Dornești near the Romanian-Ukrainian border. The terminal should become a strategic hub along the route to the port of Constanta.
The complex specializes in the transshipment of grain and other agricultural products. The company implemented the €10M project to develop its regional railway infrastructure and support for Ukraine.
“After the start of the war, the railway operators of the Grampet group ensured the transportation of more than 1.5 million tons of cargo in connection with Ukraine,” the company noted.
The maximum design capacity of the terminal is three million tons per year. The facility is equipped with a wagon loading station (length – 128 m) and an unloading station (length – 120 m), which allows simultaneous loading and unloading of eight wagons. Overload productivity is 500 tons per hour.
