A Polish contractor will continue the construction of a waste recycling plant in Lviv with an annual capacity of 240,000 tons.

Lviv municipal enterprise Green City signed an agreement with Polish contractor Control Process SA to continue the construction of a waste recycling plant in Lviv. The waste recycling project also received EBRD support for extending the grant agreement and allowing the purchase of about 70% of the project’s equipment.

The contract extension provides for the plant’s construction by June 30, 2025; commissioning work should occur over the next two months. The resumption of construction is scheduled for the first week of December.

In September of this year, the contract was threatened with termination after the contractor violated a critical condition. The preliminary cost of the project was €35M; however, due to the increased equipment price, the final cost may be up to €50M.

The plant’s future capacity will be 240,000 tons of waste per year and it will employ over 180 workers.
