A modern potato storage facility with a capacity of up to 10,000 tons will be built in the Chernihiv region.

This year, the Desna farm plans to construct a modern storage facility capable of handling 8,000-10,000 tons of potatoes in the Chernihiv region. The company will secure funding through the Affordable Loans 5-7-9% program for the project’s implementation. The construction of the storage facility will allow an increase in the area dedicated to potatoes from 200 hectares to 400 hectares. Currently, the company grows between 4,000 and 10,000 tons of potatoes annually. The farm has the capacity to store 7,000 tons of products, but it needs a modern potato storage facility.

Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers, recognizing the shortage of vegetable storage facilities in Ukraine, expanded the Affordable Loans program to include the construction of vegetable storage facilities.

In the Chernihiv region, almost 100 enterprises were either destroyed or damaged due to the war, particularly in the mechanical engineering, light industry, and food industry sectors. However, local authorities have overseen the restoration of production processes since 2023: The volume of industrial products sold has risen to 120.7% of 2021’s level. The recovery program identified the woodworking and agro-processing industries, waste processing projects, and the establishment of waste sorting stations as areas of promise.
