The new $500,000 elevator is to be capable of handling 7,300 passengers an hour, said Ivan Yuryk, Ukrzalinytsia’s acting CEO. The new escalator is the centerpiece of a nearly $2 million overhaul of elevators and escalators in a station notorious for its steep stairs down to platforms. Separately, a disability access audit is to be performed of the Kyiv and Kharkiv main rail stations, the busiest in the country. Supervised by UNICEF, the audit also will be performed of Lviv and Kyiv Boryspil airports.
