The Lithuanian company Ignitis Group, with headquarters in Vilnius, has decided to direct 10%, or €12M, of surplus profits to Ukraine’s restoration, said Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.
The company became the first to respond to the Ministry of Energy’s call to share the additional profits that energy companies realized because of Russia’s invasion, which provoked substantial price jumps on energy markets.
In addition, the adviser to the President of Ukraine, Oleg Ustenko, stated in a letter to Shell CEO Vael Savan that the Shell Corporation should donate the money it will receive from the sale of its share in the Russian oil and gas project Sakhalin-2.
The Russian government approved the value of Shell’s share in December 2022 at $1.16B. Shell refused to comment on this topic but stated that it has no active business in the Russian Federation, reported POLITICO.
